The Montenegrin Olympic Committee has decided - Milivoj Dukić is the best athlete of our country for 2024.
The great sailor from Herceg Novi marked the year with his fourth appearance at the Olympic Games, where he won 14th place at sea near Marseille.
It was his best placement at the Games, after he was 30th in London in the "laser" class, 29th in Rio de Janeiro and 17th in Tokyo, when he also celebrated in one regatta.
Dukić thus stood side by side with the previous winners of this prestigious award. Before him, the best were: Srđan Mrvaljević (2011), together Bojana Popović and Katarina Bulatović (2012), Nikola Janović (2013), together Katarina Bulatović and Mlađan Janović (2014), Aleksandar Ivović (2015), Marina Raković and Aleksandar Ivović together (2016), Vuko Borozan (2017), Predrag Radošević (2018), Mario Hodžić (2019), Draško Brguljan (2020), Marija Vuković (2021 and 2022) and Nenad Dulović (2023).
Jelena Vukčević (handball) and Jovana Damjanović (karate) were chosen by COK directors for the best young athletes, while Srđan Janović (water polo) and Viktor Dukić (kickboxing) were declared the best young athletes.
Based on the proposal of the Commission of National Selections, he decided that the titles of the best national selections belong to the women's handball and men's water polo national teams of Montenegro, which, as stated, achieved remarkable results in the past year.
Boxer Tomislav Đinović won a bronze medal at the European Championship, and the Board of Directors decided to present him with an award for Sports Achievement of the Year, in recognition of his exceptional achievement on the sports scene.
The official announcement of the best will be held on Thursday at a ceremony in Villa "Gorica".
