A member of the Podgorica Athletics Club, Danijel Furtula and Darko Pešić from Lovcen, Cetinje, shared the award for the best athlete of Montenegro in 2024, in the traditional selection of the Athletics Association.
The board of directors decided to share the same recognition in the women's competition between Marija Vuković from Lovcen and Anđela Drobnjak, a member of the Bjelopolje Jedinstvo.
Last year, Furtula won a silver medal in the discus throw at the Championship of Small European Countries, he was 13th at the Winter European Cup of Throwers and 30th at the European Championship.
His most valuable result according to the IAAF tables is 1103 points (62,34m).
Pešić won 21st place at the European Championships for seniors in the decathlon, he took 100nd place in the 42m race at the Olympic Games in Paris, while he was 37th in the 60m hurdles at the European Indoor Championships.
His best result according to the IAAF tables is 1037 points.
Vuković won silver in the high jump at the Championship of Small European Countries, won seventh place at the Balkan Championship, and also participated in the European Championship.
Her most valuable result according to the IAAF tables is 994 points.
Drobnjak won second place in the 100-meter hurdles at the Championship of Small European Countries, she was fourth at the Balkan Championship for seniors in the heptathlon.
She also set a Montenegrin record for senior women in the heptathlon with 4932 points.
Her best result according to the IAAF tables is 958 points (100m hurdles – 14,48s).
The best juniors are Matija Vojvodić and Vesna Kljajević, and the younger juniors are Radovan Sošić and Anđela Đuranović.
Matija Damjanović, Enes Erović and Amra Hubanić were declared the best in the pioneer competition, while the best veterans were Gojko Banjević, Dragoljub Koprivica and Vesna Pavlićević.
At the special ceremony, special awards were given for the results achieved on the domestic and international stage in 2024.
Analyzing the year 2024, President Milorad Vuletić said that all planned activities have been implemented.
Zoran Jojić from the Ministry of Sports and Youth also greeted those present.
