Hungarian swimmer Katinka Hosu, who was a three-time Olympic champion, announced the end of her career.
She said this via the Instagram social network.
"For 30 years, water has been my home, a sanctuary where I find solace and strength. From the moment I entered the pool for the first time as a child, I knew I had discovered something magical," Hosu announced.
"The fresh touch of water was like coming home, to a place where gravity ceased to exist, and every stroke brought me closer to my dreams. Now when I look back on my career, I get a sense of fulfillment. Medals and records are priceless, but most importantly is that my great love for swimming remains," said Hosu.
At the 2016 Olympics, Hosu won three gold medals in the 100-meter backstroke, 200-meter medley and 400-meter medley, as well as a silver medal in the 200-meter backstroke.
She participated in the Olympic Games five times, and made her debut in Athens in 2004 as a 15-year-old.
He also has nine gold medals from the world championships and 17 gold medals from the WC in small pools.
