Max Verstappen has said many times that he can imagine ending his career in a Red Bull car, but not everything is that simple in the world of sports - and where there is huge money involved, changes are even a reality.
The British "Daily Mail" thus brings an exclusive that Aston Martin wants the four-time Formula 1 champion and is ready to do anything to hire him. These are incredible figures, and it is mentioned that Verstappen could earn a billion pounds or 1,18 billion euros at Aston Martin.
Is it just gossip or are the wealthy owners really preparing a "detonation" that would shake up the fastest cycle and sport in general?
The Daily Mail points out that Jefferson Slack, a close associate of billionaire and Aston Martin owner Lawrence Stroll, has already spoken to potential investors and told them Verstappen is coming. The Dutchman would reportedly sign a five-year contract with a huge bonus, and it is mentioned that he could then become part of the ownership structure.
Verstappen has a contract with Red Bull until 2029 and has often said he wants to stay there. Relations were somewhat strained last season after the scandal with Christian Horner and speculation that Helmut Marko was leaving the team, but later, as Max's results improved, there was less and less bad blood.
Verstappen currently earns just under 60 million euros a year at Red Bull, and if he accepts Aston Martin's invitation, he would receive more than 200 million.
"If there's an athlete who can ask for whatever they want, it's Max," he told the Daily Mail.
