Montenegrin alpine skiing will be represented at the World Championships (WC) in Saalbach by three skiers: Bojan Kosić, Branislav Peković and Petar Kasom, the Ski Association announced.

This will be Kosić's ninth appearance at the world championships, after making his debut in 2007 in Ore, Sweden.

After last year's performance at the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Gangwon, Peković will make his debut at the world championships.

Eighteen-year-old Petar Kasom from Nikšić will also make his first appearance on the world's biggest stage.

All three Montenegrin skiers will compete in the giant slalom and slalom qualifications on February 13th and 15th.

Kasom said that, after preparations on glaciers in Austria during October and November, and recent competitions on Bjelašnica, Kupres and Ravna Planina, he can't wait to make his debut appearance at the championship.

"Every athlete's dream is to be in the company and compete with the best in the world. There is trepidation, but that is expected when I know that I will be sharing the track with the world's best skiers. One thing is for sure, I will give my maximum and represent my country, Montenegro, worthily," said Kasom.

The Nikšić high school graduate said that he expects that, after the Winter Paralympic Games in Italy next year, he will also realize his dreams in paraskiing.

"I expect that next year, after the Games in Milan and Cortina D'Ampezzo, I will officially receive the classification and the right to compete in Paralympic skiing. I want to try my hand at that competition as well. My dreams are slowly coming true, the hard work and many sacrifices since the age of five have not been in vain," said Kasom.

The Montenegrin expedition to Saalbach will be led by coaches Pavle Kasom and Rajko Kosić.
