Branislav Peković failed to qualify for the second giant slalom run at the World Championships in Saalbach, Austria. He finished the first run in 73rd place, 18,64 seconds behind the fastest, Timon Haugan.

The Norwegian had a time of 1:21,10 minutes, just two hundredths ahead of Loik Mejlar, and he will defend 24 hundredths in the final run against Mark Odermatt.

There were only places in the final series for the top 60 from the first giant slalom series.

In the qualifications, Peković was 69th after two runs, Bojan Kosić 76th, while Petar Kasom had a time of 82nd. 133 skiers competed in the qualifications, 112 completed the first run, and 85 completed both runs.

According to the proposals, the right to perform in the giant slalom belongs to the 30 best placed from the World Cup, the 25 best from the qualifications, as well as the representatives of the 25 countries that did not manage to achieve it through the qualifications.

Based on that rule, Peković was given the opportunity to compete in the giant slalom.

All three Montenegrin skiers will also compete in the slalom qualifications on February 15. The Montenegrin team in Saalbach is led by coaches Pavle Kasom and Rajko Kosić.
