Dukić wins silver in Spain, Marković's mistake cost him the medal

Montenegrin sailor Milivoj Dukić won the silver medal, while Ilija Marković took fourth place at the Lanzerote International Regatta in Spain.

One mistake in the seventh regatta cost Marković a place on the podium.

The competition was organized as part of the start of preparations for the new Olympic cycle for Los Angeles 2028 on the island of Lanzarote, a sailing regatta center that has attracted top sailors and Olympic participants.

Throughout the competition, Dukić and Marković showed top form and fighting spirit, heralding an even more successful period for Montenegrin sailing.

The gold medal was won by Duko Bos (Netherlands), while third place went to Tomas Van Ofegen (Netherlands).

Behind Ilija Marković were Luka Zakubovec (Slovenia), Gutiérrez Verhulst (Switzerland), Jérémy Motut (France), Willem Wiersema (Netherlands), Antun Tomašević (Croatia) and Stijn Van Der Valk (Netherlands).

The Montenegrin national team is now transferring their equipment to Palma de Mallorca and returning home for a short break.

The next competition is in Palma, where they will participate in the first of five regattas of the prestigious Sailing Grand Slam series in March. Then, in April, they will compete in the second regatta of the series in Hierro, France.

The season continues with the World Championship in May in China, while the third regatta from the SGS series awaits them in Kiel in June.

The European Championship, which is scheduled for August in Sweden, will also be a big challenge.
