Minister of Sports and Youth Dragoslav Šćekić will launch an initiative to establish the first National Council for the Prevention of Negative Phenomena in Sports, whose main task will be to combat hooliganism, match-fixing and the use of doping.
It was announced that the unpleasant scenes after the match between football players Dečić and Budućnost in Tuzi are not happening for the first time and that the perception of a normal situation off the field should not be created.
It is stated that this body will work to improve safety in sports, protect the integrity of competition and promote healthy sporting values.
"The formation of the National Council sets clear standards and procedures that will enable a more efficient fight against all forms of irregularities in sports. In addition to the ministries that will play a key role, the Council will bring together experts from various fields - lawyers, sports workers, sports journalists, psychologists, doctors, but also athletes themselves, coaches, parents and all those who want to contribute to strengthening ethics and fair play in sports competitions," the statement reads.
It is stated that by establishing the National Council for the Prevention of Negative Phenomena in Sports, the state is taking a significant step towards strengthening the integrity of sports competitions and protecting young athletes.
"By engaging experts from various fields and cooperating with sports organizations, the Council will play a key role in the fight against hooliganism, corruption and doping in sports," the statement said.
It was announced that the advice will represent another important step towards improving safety at sporting events and protecting athletes, especially young ones, from negative influences.
The Council, in addition to combating negative phenomena, will also actively work on promoting positive role models in sports.
"Through collaboration with successful athletes and coaches, young people will have the opportunity to learn about the importance of fair play, hard work and team spirit," the statement said.
The Ministry of Sports and Youth announced that the goal is not only to punish those who break the rules, but also to create a culture in which sport is seen as a space for development, progress, and inspiration.
The National Council will, through educational campaigns, workshops and public forums, strive to raise awareness of the importance of sports morals and ethics.
"Through education, preventive measures and clearly defined procedures, the National Council will work to create a healthier sports environment, where honesty, discipline and sportsmanship will be core values," the statement said.
