Podgorica's tekken club "Budućnos" is the winner of the first tournament of the Montenegrin tekken League (MTL) in the 2025 season.
Marko Žarković and Andrija Jovanović continued their dominant performances in the new season – in the doubles final they defeated PG Tekers, Vas Pejović and Nikola Popović – 12:7, 12:1, while in the head-to-head singles final Žarković was the better player – 12:9, 12:8.
"A great start to the season and an overture to the challenges that await us in the coming period. I believe that this year we have something to show on the international stage, and the first opportunity for that is the Adriatic Teqball League tournament in Ohrid in June," said the two-time champion of the first MTL tournament, Marko Žarković.
The tournament, which was held at the Igalo Sports Center in Herceg Novi, had 29 entries, and in addition to the men's singles and doubles, there was a mixed doubles tournament on the program. The winner of the mixed competition was the local pair, Tamara Milović and Luka Tomašević, who beat their teammates from KMF Makina, Milica Živanović and Nikola Gugić, 6:12, 12:10, 12:9 in the final.
The Montenegrin Teqball League is just one of the projects in the rich program of the Teqball Federation of Montenegro, points out Milorad Šutulović.
"A successful start to the national league. Congratulations to the Buducnost team. I would especially like to thank the Municipality of Herceg Novi, SC Igalo and KMF Makina for their support in organizing the tournament. Herceg Novi is a true tekbol center and it is always a pleasure to come to this city," says Šutulović and adds
!In addition to the Montenegrin Teqball League, we are also implementing the "Teqball in Schools" project. With donations to high schools in Berane and Petnjica, the first phase of the project was successfully completed in mid-week, through which every high school in the north of the country was equipped with a Teqball table and accompanying equipment.
"We are also preparing extensively for the first tournament of the 3rd season of the Adriatic Tekbol League, which is open to competitors from all over the world as of this year," said the president of the Tekbol Federation, Milorad Šutulović.
The next tekball tournament is scheduled for May 23rd at the sports center in Žabljak.
