Montenegrin table tennis player Filip Radović is the winner of an international tournament in Laško, Slovenia.
Filip defeated Chilean Manuel Ecaveguren 3:2 (11:7, 4:11, 9:11, 14:12, 13:11) in the final of the ten category and with maximum performance came to his third trophy this season.
In an exciting and uncertain final, Radović was on the verge of defeat, but he was right when it was needed most.
He easily won the first set, while the Chilean table tennis player took the next two. In the fourth, Radović saved a match point, and in the fifth, two more. In the deciding set, he was down 10:9 and 11:10, but tied three points and came away with the victory and the trophy.
Radović, after a comeback, eliminated Spaniard Manuel Ruiz Reyes 3:2 (7:11, 9:11, 11:7, 12:10, 11:6) in the semifinals. The bronze medalist from the Tokyo and Paris Games lost the first two sets, but saved the match point in the fourth.
He qualified for the semifinals as the top seed in the group, with victories over Ećaveguren 3:2, Japan's Mahira Funayama 3:1 (7:11, 11:6, 14:12, 11:7) and Mateo Skuta from Luxembourg 3:0 (11:4, 11:9, 11:3).
Radović is undefeated in 2025, and before Laško he triumphed at tournaments in Vladislavovo, Poland, and Podgorica. The bronze medals at the Laško Challenger were won by Reyes and Austrian Kristijan Gardoš.
Laško will also host the elite tournament, from May 12th to 16th, and among almost all of the world's best table tennis players in the ten category will be Radović and Luka Bakić.
Radović and Bakić's performance in Laško is financed by the 2025 Paralympic Committee program, which was supported by the Ministry of Sports and Youth of Montenegro.
