Barans welcome Mijač: Historic medal for Bar and Montenegro

A ceremonial welcome was held last night on the plateau in front of the "Topolica" Sports Hall for Vladimir Mijač, a karateka from Bar who won a bronze medal in individual kata at the European Championships in Yerevan - the first European medal in that discipline in the history of Bar and Montenegrin sports.

In the presence of numerous citizens, athletes, members of the Bar Karate Club and sports fans, Bar once again showed how much it values ​​the effort, dedication and success of its athletes, said the Municipality of Bar.

Addressing the crowd, the mayor of Bar, Dušan Raičević, pointed out that Mijač lived up to all expectations, and that his results had become a role model for young people.

"A guy who is an idol and role model for all young generations, who has shown that with hard work and dedication, great results can be achieved for Montenegrin sports. Vlado, thank you for everything you do for this city, thank you for growing new, better generations of athletes in Bar with you. Together with your colleagues from the Bar Karate Club, you show how Bar sports must and should be developed." - said Raičević.

Raičević emphasized that Mijač's heart beats for Bar and that he has proven once again that Bar is and remains a city of champions.

Mijač also greeted those who gathered to welcome him and said that he was truly proud to stand here before them with a historic medal for Montenegro.

"Know that I could not have achieved this result alone, but with the help of all of you, with your love, and thank you for that. I owe special thanks to coach Milena Milačić and coach Almir Cecunjanin, as well as the entire Bar Karate Club. I would like the children I train tomorrow to feel the same way I did tonight, and I promise to pass on everything I know to them," said Mijač.

The atmosphere was filled with pride and emotions, confirming once again that Bar knows how to celebrate the successes of its champions, and Mijač's success remains not only as a historic sporting result, but also as a strong inspiration for generations to come, concluded the local administration, congratulating him and wishing him much success in his future career.
