Goalball club Nikšić suffered a defeat at the start of the Club World Championship in Espoo, Finland.
Nikšić's goalies lost to Hansa from Roštok today in the suburbs of Helsinki, in the first round of Group A - 7:5.
A weaker start to the second half and ten minutes without a goal cost the Nikšić team a better result in their debut at the World Championship.
Hanza took advantage of that period and made a turnaround with a 4-0 goal streak and it turned out to have solved the question of the winner.
Nikšić's goalies started the game better, leading 4:2 midway through the first half, and had several opportunities to make the lead more convincing.
The German champion reduced the score to 4:3 by halftime, and then scored three consecutive goals to take a 6:4 lead.
Coach Nikola Čurović's team, with a bit of luck and an own goal from their rivals, reduced the deficit to 6:5, but they did not have enough focus to secure a draw in the end.
Nikola Nikolić was the double scorer, while Miloš Ranitović and Marko Nikolić each scored a goal.
Ranitović said that it remains a regret that the result in his debut appearance at the world championship was not more favorable.
"We were unable to maintain the lead we had at half-time. A drop in play and a few goals conceded, along with a weaker offensive in the second half, took their toll. We have reason to be satisfied, but there is also a lot that needs to be corrected for tomorrow. We have two very difficult matches ahead of us," said Ranitović.
There was no winner in the second duel in that group, between Sessi from Sao Paulo and Japanese Iwi, which ended (8:8).
Duels between Nikšić and Brazilian Sesi (10,15:16,30 AM) and Japanese Ivi (XNUMX:XNUMX PM) are scheduled for tomorrow.
According to the regulations, all four teams from both groups will advance to the knockout phase, in which the first-place team will play against the fourth-place team, or the second-place team against the third-place team from the other group.
