The Center for the Promotion of Sports and Youth (CAMS) has published the “Handbook for Protection in Sport”, the first comprehensive document of its kind in Montenegro, intended for sports federations, clubs, sports schools and all other stakeholders working with children, youth and vulnerable groups. The handbook was developed within the framework of the “Sport without Barriers” project, with the aim of providing sports organizations with a practical tool for preventing and adequately addressing violence, abuse and neglect in sport – especially when it comes to children, women and people with disabilities.

The document provides a clear explanation of why protection in sport is important, defines who it is intended for, and provides specific protocols for reporting cases of violence, abuse, or neglect, including information on competent institutions and contacts for response.

"The manual was developed as a concrete response to the worrying situation when it comes to protection in sports in Montenegro, which we gained insight into through research conducted at the federation level. I believe that this document will become a valuable tool for all who want to make sport safer and more inclusive for all participants," said Milorad Šutulović, Executive Director of the Center for the Affirmation of Sports and Youth.

The “Handbook for Protection in Sport” was developed with the support of the regional project SMART Balkans – Civil Society for a Connected Western Balkans, implemented by the Center for the Promotion of Civil Society (CPCD), the Center for Research and Policy Making (CRPM) and the Institute for Democracy and Mediation (IDM), and funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway.

The manual is available in digital format and can be downloaded via the following link: Safeguarding Toolkit / Safeguarding Toolkit in Sport
