The Montenegrin women's rugby team won second place at the European Conference 1 Championship, in the Olympic version of rugby 7's. With this result, the team secured participation in the elite Trophy series for the following year.
In the final match, Montenegro lost to the favored hosts Andorra with a score of 22:0, which was the only defeat of the Montenegrin "wolves" in the tournament. The Montenegrin women did not give up in this match either, and if it had not been for one injury, one yellow card, one player less and one controversial court decision, the result could have been different.
In the first part of the tournament, Montenegro defeated Malta 12:0 and Bulgaria 22:0 in the group stage, while then losing to Andorra 41:5.
Winning second place in the group took our players to the semifinals, where they played against Croatia earlier yesterday. The victory in the great battle was secured only in overtime with a golden essay. At halftime it was 5:7 for the Croatians, at the end of the regular part of the match 12:12. The golden essay in overtime for a place in the final was scored by Enaha Dašić.
The Trpohy Series is the second-strongest ranking of rugby competitions in Europe, featuring 12 national teams. Rankings are determined based on results in two tournaments played throughout the year.
The Montenegrin national team was played by Maja Baošić, Katarina Martinović, Dragica Kovačević, Zorica Kostić Vučićević, captain Ivana Čađenović, Milica Kostić, Saba Sekulović, Marija Rašović, Aleksandra Lukačević, Ana Vasović, Auset Mitchell, Ena Dešić and Amina Tukić. The team's coach is Luka Grgić, doctor Behman Šahmanović and the team manager is Ksenija Manojlović.
