The European Paralympic Youth Games (EPYG) in Istanbul officially began with a ceremonial opening ceremony, where Montenegro will be represented by swimmer Iskra Dedivanović, the Paralympic Committee announced.
The competition program will begin on Friday, and Dedivanović will enter the pool on the very first day - in the 100-meter freestyle qualifying round, in the S9 category.
"I am very excited to have the opportunity to be part of such a big competition. I gave my best during the preparations and now I want to enjoy every moment. I hope for a personal record and a new experience that will strengthen me for the future," said Dedivanović.
The Games, which will be held under the slogan Beyond Limits, Together We Rise, brought together more than 650 competitors from 33 countries.
Young athletes will compete in nine different sports, with the largest number of competitors competing in paraswimming.
Dedivanović will also compete in the 100 breaststroke (July 26) and the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly the day after.
