Montenegrin swimmer Iskra Dedivanović improved her personal best in the 100-meter freestyle by three seconds.

At the European Youth Paralympic Games (EPYG) in Istanbul, she swam the race in one minute, 18 seconds and 52 hundredths of a second.

That's three seconds and 30 hundredths better than her previous personal best.

The member of the Podgorica club MAKO did not manage to reach the finals, and in the overall standings, in combined categories, she finished in 18th place out of 35 competitors, born between 2007 and 2009.

Dedivanović competed in the S9 category, and made her debut at the European Youth Pairs Games in Istanbul.

"I'm very satisfied! I knew I could do better and I'm glad I was able to show it right here, on such a big stage. This gives me extra motivation for tomorrow's race," said Dedivanović.

She will swim the 100-meter breaststroke tomorrow.

"I can say that I am proud of the way Iskra handles challenges. She is focused, calm and determined to emerge stronger from every performance. The result is proof that hard work and quality always pay off," said her coach Danijela Bulatović.

The Games, which will be held under the slogan Beyond Limits, Together We Rise, brought together more than 650 competitors from 33 countries.

Young athletes will compete in nine different sports, with the largest number of competitors competing in paraswimming.

Dedivanović will also compete in the 100 backstroke and butterfly by the end of the games.
