Montenegrin swimmer Iskra Dedivanović improved her personal record in the 100-meter backstroke by almost four seconds at the European Youth Paralympic Games in Istanbul.

She finished the race in one minute, 27 seconds and 52 hundredths of a second.

The previous best result was one minute, 31 seconds and 47 hundredths of a second.

An excellent performance was not rewarded with a place in the final, but with the status of first reserve.

Dedivanović finished in eighth place in the combined categories, after scoring, out of 21 swimmers born from 2007 to 2009, or 12th in the absolute ranking list out of 38 competitors.

She also improved her personal bests in the 100-meter freestyle and breaststroke the previous two days.

"Dedivanović once again showed great form and huge progress! With today's result, she has come significantly closer to the norm of major international competitions, which is a great motivation for the future," said her coach Danijela Bulatovič.

In the last race in Istanbul, in the 100-meter butterfly, Dedivanović, although she swam excellently and qualified for the final (sixth place), was disqualified due to a technical error.

"There remains regret, but also a strong message - Iskra is the future of European paraswimming. As a coach, I can say that Iskra came out of this competition stronger, more experienced and even more motivated. Three personal bests, exceptional fighting spirit and an outstanding attitude make us proud - not only because of the results, but also because of what kind of person and athlete she is," concluded Bulatović.

The games, which were held under the slogan Beyond Limits, Together We Rise, brought together more than 650 competitors from 33 countries.

Young athletes competed in nine different sports, and Dedivanović was the only representative of Montenegro.
