Montenegrin high jump record holder Marija Vuković will compete tomorrow in the World Championships qualifications in Tokyo.
Vuković earned her visa for Tokyo as the 25th best female high jump competitor.
In that discipline, according to the results and points of the World Athletics Federation, 36 competitors qualified. This will be her sixth participation at the World Championships.
According to the IAAF standard, any athlete who clears 197 centimeters will qualify for the final. If a large number of competitors do not clear the high qualification standard, there will be places in the final for the 12 athletes with the best results from tomorrow's competition.
The finale is on the ninth, last day of the world festival in Tokyo, September 21st at 12,30:XNUMX PM.
Vuković made her debut at the 2011 World Championships in South Korea and finished 28th, while six years later in London she was 21st.
In Qatar in 2019, she placed 18th, and in 2022 in the United States, she was on the verge of reaching the final, finishing in 14th place.
Vuković returned to the runway at the beginning of the year, after missing the second half of last season due to injury.
On January 29th, at the indoor meeting in Belgrade, she won second place with a jump of 190 centimeters, while on February 15th, she won gold at the Balkan Indoor Championships.
She finished eighth at the European Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn, Netherlands, won a silver medal (191) at the Balkan Championships in Volos, and triumphed at the Games of the Small Countries of Europe in Andorra with a jump of 185 centimeters.
She won gold at the Montenegrin championship, as well as at the international athletics meeting in Belgrade, while she won a silver medal at the international athletics meeting in Klaverblad.
Vuković will take off tomorrow at 12:15.
She is the only representative of Montenegro at the World Championships, and she traveled to Tokyo with coach Dimitrios Vasilikos.
