Marija Vuković finished the World Athletics Championships in a tie for 12th place. She cleared 188 centimeters in the first attempt at the biggest event in Tokyo.
The only Montenegrin participant in the biggest competition in the "queen of sports" then broke the high jump record by 193 centimeters in all three attempts and said goodbye to the fight for medals.
Vuković cleared 192 centimeters in the qualifiers for the best result at the world championships. 36 high jumpers competed in Tokyo, and 16 of them made it to the finals.
Before heavy rain interrupted the competition, Australian Nicole Olislaegers was in the best position with a jump of two meters, while weather conditions created problems for Angelina Topić and world record holder from Ukraine, Yaroslava Mahuchik, who jumped 197 centimeters on their first attempts.
