Montenegrin chess player Predrag Nikač led the World Chess Federation for the Visually Impaired (IBCA) team to victory in the fourth round of the Chess Paralympics for People with Disabilities in Astana with a triumph on the first board.
Nikac defeated Indian Josh Erjan and recorded his second victory in the tournament.
The gold medalist from the Belgrade Paralympics also celebrated in Astana against Egyptian Magdi Momtaz, while he was defeated by German Artur Kevorkow and Israeli grandmaster Yehuda Grunefeld.
The IBCA team also retained its chances of competing for a high ranking, defeating India 2,5:1,5 in the fourth round.
Apart from Nikač, Julija Salamon also won, Pjotor Dokačevski drew, while Mihael-Daćian Pribeanu suffered a defeat.
The IBCA team will play the United States team tomorrow in the fifth round.
The Chess Paralympics is played in six rounds, according to the Swiss system.
