The Alpine Skiing World Cup will begin tomorrow with the women's giant slalom in Sölden, Austria. The men's skiers will compete in the same discipline in Sölden a day later.
Over the next five months, 37 races will be held in both men's and women's competitions, and will be held before and after the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics. The Games are scheduled for February 6-22.
The World Cup will be held for the 60th time, and the Crystal Globes will be defended by Marco Odermatt and Federica Brignione.
In the ski competition, the small crystal globes were won last season by Henrik Kristoffersen (slalom), Marko Odermatt (giant slalom), Marko Odermatt (super-G) and Marko Odermatt (downhill).
Among women's skiers, the trophies will be defended by Zrinka Ljutić (slalom), Federika Brinjone (giant slalom), Lara Gut-Behrami (super-G) and Federika Brinjone (downhill).
Traditionally, the World Cup for men and women skiers begins on the third weekend of October in Sölden, and after a three-week break, everyone moves to Levi, Finland, where the slalom will be held.
The same discipline will be on the program seven days later in Gurgl.
The women's World Cup ends with the giant slalom, and the men's World Cup ends with the slalom on March 25 in Lillehammer, which will host the season finale.
Saturday's first run of the women's giant slalom in Sölden will start at ten o'clock.
