The European Youth Chess Championship, held in Budva, began today with the first round of matches.
After the presidents of the European Chess Union and the Chess Federation of Montenegro, Zurab Azmaparšvili and Jovan Milović, ceremonially made the first move, 1.160 young chess players from 48 European countries began their battles on the black and white boards.
Over 70 young players from Montenegro are participating in the competition.
Katarina Đukić showed another great game and proved why she was invited to the senior national team this year, and in the first round she outplayed the fifteenth seed Magdalena Pavicka from Poland with the white pieces.
Zejn Agić, a member of Podgorica's Diagonal, also won, defeating Dragutin Petrović, a representative of Serbia.
Đorđe Žižić, this year's youth champion of Montenegro, drew with Adam Zielonka, from Poland, the seventh seed in the tournament.
