The Montenegrin Olympic Committee (MOC) and the MOC Sports Commission, with the support of the International Olympic Committee and the European Olympic Committees, organized the first Montenegrin Sports Forum, a national event dedicated to improving the position of athletes and building a modern sports system in our country.
The forum opened with speeches by MOC President Dušan Simonović, Minister of Sports and Youth Dragoslav Šćekić, and MOC Sports Commission President Milivoj Dukić, along with a video message from IOC Sports Commission President Ema Terho.
In his opening remarks, Simonović said that sport must be recognized as a value of national importance:
"Sport is a school of life and a mirror of society. On the successes of our athletes, we build confidence that by working together we can create better conditions for future generations."
The Minister of Sports and Youth emphasized that the state must remain a consistent partner to athletes:
"This forum shows that Montenegro has the knowledge, capacity and will to provide athletes with a system that supports them at every step, from career development to the protection of their rights."
Four-time Olympian, Milivoj Dukić, emphasized the importance of athlete participation in decision-making processes:
"This forum was created to show that we want to be part of the solution. Because only when athletes have a voice does sport have a future."
