Three medals from major competitions around her neck, and now the crown for the best female athlete in Montenegro on her head.
Andrea Berišaj marked 2025, and the Montenegrin Olympic Committee recognized everything, proclaiming our taekwondo athlete the best of the year, which is slowly counting its last days.
The girl who won the bronze medal at the European Championship in the senior women's competition, as well as the same medals at the world and European championships among younger senior women, received the award from Dušan Simonović, President of the MOC, at a traditional ceremony at Villa Gorica.
"It is a great honor and privilege to stand before you and receive an award that has special significance because it comes from the umbrella institution of our sport," said Andrea.
The reward is, in a way, the realization of dreams.
"It is not only a confirmation of the results achieved, but also proof of my conviction that with hard work, discipline and self-belief, all set goals can be achieved," Andrea added.
Montenegro's best athlete has no plans to stop.
"I thank the Montenegrin Olympic Committee and everyone who recognized my efforts, and I see the recognition as a great responsibility and an encouragement to continue even stronger, braver and more determined."
She also had a special message for her family and sister Angela, who also excels in taekwondo.
"I owe the greatest gratitude for what I am today to my family, who have always been there for me and supported me when things were the hardest. Especially my sister Anđela - my idol, my inspiration and the greatest champion I know," concluded Andrea Berišaj.
Awards in other categories were also presented at the ceremony.
