At the recently held KSMS International Conference in South Korea, the paper entitled "Unpacking the Harmonization of National Anti-Doping Policy: A Collaborative Autoethnography Through the Lens of Institutional Entrepreneurship", authored by Marko Begović and his colleague, was recognized by the scientific journal Journal of Global Sport Management as one of the best and most influential scientific papers in 2025.
The paper was awarded the Honorable Mention Award within the JGSM Best Paper Award, "confirming its exceptional scientific value and contribution to the development of literature in the field of sports management."
"This recognition comes after the paper was among the most read in 2025, indicating its relevance and importance to the international academic community," the statement said.
The study addresses the process of harmonizing Montenegro's national anti-doping policy with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) rules, through an innovative approach of institutional entrepreneurship and autoethnography. The research results offer unique insight into the political, technical and cultural activities that led to alignment with international standards.
"The new proposal for amendments to the Law on Sports, together with the persistence of the concept of bureaucratic corruption within the Montenegrin Olympic Committee (MOC), puts Montenegrin sport in a situation of potential sanctions due to the inability to maintain the necessary level of harmonization with international binding instruments. This development may jeopardize the integrity of sports and the international reputation of Montenegro," it was announced.
