Slovenian ski jumper Domen Prevc won today's competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the second stop of the 74th New Year's Four Ski Jumps Tour.
Prevc (26) thus continued his excellent streak and recorded his seventh triumph in the last eight World Cup competitions, and also increased his lead in the overall standings of the New Year's Tour.
He achieved a jump of 143 meters in the first series, while in the second series he had a jump two meters shorter, which was enough for 303,1 points.
Domen Prevc brought Slovenia its fifth triumph on the ski jump in Garmisch as part of the New Year's Tour. Before him, Primož Peterka recorded two victories in 1997 and 2003, Peter Prevc (Domen's older brother) in 2016, as well as Anže Lanišek, who celebrated at the beginning of 2024.
Norway and Austria have the most celebrations in Garmisch-Partenkirchen with 15 wins each.
Second and third place in today's competition were taken by the representatives of Austria - Jan Herl and Štefan Embacher.
Herl achieved jumps of 141 and 131,5 meters, and in total he was 15,4 points behind the winner, while Embacher in third place was 16 points behind the winner (jumps of 134 and 141,5 meters).
The competition was marked by the second disqualification of Slovenian representative Timi Zajc. He was disqualified after his suit deviated from the permitted limit by four millimeters, and previously, at the first competition in Oberstdorf, he lost second place because his suit exceeded the permitted limit by three millimeters.
Zajc thus received a second yellow card, which will cause him to miss the remaining two appearances on the New Year's tour in Austria, and the final decision will be known after the Slovenian team's appeal is reviewed.
After winning the German leg of the tour, Prevc leads with 619,8 points in the overall Four Hills standings, Herl is in second place, 35 points behind, and Embacher is third with 578,3 points.
In the overall World Cup standings, Prevc has increased his lead and now has 1.050 points. In second place is Japan's Ryoju Kobayashi with 736 points, and in third is Germany's Filip Rajmund with 581 points.
The New Year's Four Hills Tour continues on January 4th with a competition in Innsbruck.
