The third round of the 78th Montenegrin Chess Championship brought interesting duels, and five players had maximum performance.
Defending champion, Grandmaster Nikita Petrov defeated International Master Aleksandar Tomic with the black pieces. The Sicilian Defense was played, and after an interesting outwit, an endgame was created in which Petrov took advantage of Tomic's carelessness and maintained his maximum performance after three rounds.
Denis Kadrić defeated international master Bogdan Podlesnik with white pieces, also taking advantage of his mistakes in the endgame of difficult pieces.
Grandmaster Nikola Đukić forced Miloš Vlatković to surrender, with a brilliant realization of the advantage he gained in the center.
Oleg Jaksin defeated Božidar Kisić in the longest game of the round, taking advantage of his inaccuracies in an interesting ending. The double champion of Montenegro, international master Blažo Kalezić, also achieved maximum points, defeating Željko Rovčanin with the black pieces.
Half a point behind the leading five is a group of four players, which includes: grandmaster Nebojša Nikčević, FIDE master Miloš Pečurica, Mihailo Pušara and Mirsad Đoković. They are followed by a group of 18 players with 2 points each.
Tomorrow is the third round, and the most interesting duels will be: Petrov - Jaksin, Đukić - Kadrić, Kalezić - Pečurica, Pušara - Đoković, Nikčević - Ivanović...
The host of this year's championship is the National Library "Radosav Ljumović", and tomorrow's fourth round is scheduled for 16 pm.
