Grandmaster Denis Kadrić and FIDE master Oleg Jaksin are the only players with maximum performance at the 78th Montenegrin Chess Championship.
Yaksin defeated the defending champion, grandmaster Nikita Petrov, with the black pieces. The Sicilian Defense was played, and Petrov reacted lukewarmly at the crucial moment in the center, which Yaksin took advantage of and won first a pawn, then a piece, after which Petrov stopped resisting.
In the grandmaster and representative derby, Denis Kadrić defeated Nikola Đukić with the black pieces. Kadrić gained an advantage after the opening, and with confident play he turned the gained activity into a full point.
Kadrić and Jaksin are the only maximum in the fourth round, and their duel is scheduled for tomorrow in the fifth round, with Kadrić leading the white pieces.
Half a point behind the leaders are FIDE master Miloš Pečurica and the most pleasant surprise of the tournament, Mirsad Đoković. Pečurica defeated Blaž Kalezić with the black pieces, who reached a difficult endgame after changing queens. Đoković defeated the youngster Mihailo Pušara with the black pieces, taking advantage of a more active position.
The grandmaster duel between Božidar Ivanovic and Nebojša Nikčević ended in a draw, after Nikčević lost a large advantage.
In the group of players with three points, there are eleven players, including the aforementioned: Petrov, Kalezić, Đukić and Nikčević, as well as: Božidar Kisić, Željko Rovčanin, Aleksandar Tomić, Jovan Milović, Veljko Šćekić, Dimitrije Vujović and Predrag Nikač.
The fifth round is scheduled for tomorrow, with the start scheduled for 16pm, and the following duels stand out: Kadrić - Jaksin, Pečurica - Djoković, Milović - Petrov, Šćekić - Djukić, Nikač - Kalezić, Rovčanin - Nikčević, Tomic - Kisić, Podlesnik - Vujović.
It is planned to play 11 rounds according to the Swiss system.
The host of the championship is the National Library "Radosav Ljumović", and the prize fund is 15.000 euros.
