Brazilian skier Lucas Pinheiro Broten won the gold medal in the giant slalom at the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina today.
After the first run, he was in first place with a 0,95 lead over second-placed Marco Odermat, and he managed to maintain his lead in the second run and win gold, which is the first medal in Brazil's history at the Winter Olympics.
Broten won gold with a total time of two minutes and 25 seconds.
This is also the first gold medal at the Winter Olympics in the history of South America.
The silver medal was won by Swiss Odermatt, 0,58 seconds behind, and the bronze went to his compatriot Loik Mejar, who was 1,17 seconds behind the winner.
