Neither the shortened take-off run nor the seven-point deficit in the first series stopped the fantastic Slovenian - Domen Prevc is the Olympic champion on the large ski jump!
Winner of the Golden Eagle, will win the World Cup and is the world champion and record holder in ski flying, Prevc was the best when it was needed most - he landed in the second series at 141,5 meters for his first individual Olympic gold - 301,8 (138,5 m + 141,5 m)
He set a ski jumping hill record of 143,5 meters in training. He already won gold with the Slovenian mixed team at the 25th Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina, and only failed on the small ski jumping hill.
Silver went to the second favorite, Japan's Ren Nikaida, who was in great form - 295,0 (140,0 + 135,5), while bronze went to the incredible 19-year-old Polish Kaxper Tomasjak - 291,2 (133,0 + 138,5).
This is the Pole's second medal, after winning silver on the small hill, where Nikaido was third.
Domen, a member of the famous "Prevc dynasty", answered questions from excited journalists without euphoria. After all, the Golden Eagle, which he won by winning the "Four Ski Jumps" New Year's Tour this season, is the biggest trophy in his sport.
"I just wanted to enjoy that second jump and everything worked out in the best way. I'm happy, but from the beginning of this sport I just wanted to enjoy jumping, and the results showed that," emphasized Domen Prevc.
Tomorrow it's his sister Nika's turn, who won silver on the small hill and with gold she would complete all her trophies for the season.
