The fifth round of the 78th Montenegrin Championship brought great excitement, and after five rounds, FIDE master Oleg Jaksin is at the top of the table, with maximum performance.
Jaksin defeated grandmaster Denis Kadrić in the round derby with black pieces. The Sicilian Defense was played, Kadrić went on the attack with white pieces, sacrificing a rook for two pieces, however Jaksin defended himself excellently, and after the denouement on the board the endgame remained within the limits of equality. However, Kadrić tried to reach the full point, which Jaksin took advantage of and reached the full point.
The President of the Chess Federation of Montenegro, FIDE Master Jovan Milović, demonstrated his brilliant chess skills by defeating the defending champion, Grandmaster Nikita Petrov, with white pieces. With filigree technique, Milović realized the advantage in the cannon endgame, and in grandmaster fashion reached the fourth point in the tournament.
In the duel on the second table, Miloš Pečurica and Mirsad Đoković drew after fair play on both sides. Veljko Šćekić played well, so grandmaster Nikola Đukić had to settle for a draw after fair play on both sides.
Blažo Kalezić, with the black pieces, managed to win against his fellow titleholder, international master Predrag Nikač, after a great fight. Grandmaster Nebojša Nikčević justified his role as the favorite against Željko Rovčanin, while Aleksandar Tomić won in the Nikšić derby against Božidar Kisić.
Tomorrow is the double round, so many things will be clearer after it. The sixth round matches, scheduled for 9:30 a.m., will feature: Jaksin - Tomić, Đoković - Kadrić, Kalezić - Milović, Nikčević - Pečurica...
