American skier Lindsey Vonn has been released from a hospital in Italy, where she was admitted seven days ago, after a serious fall in the downhill at the Winter Olympics.
Vaughn said her fourth leg surgery, which was performed on Saturday, went well and she is looking forward to returning home to America. She added that she is recovering after a difficult few days and that she has a long road ahead of her, as she is scheduled for another surgery in the US.
"My love for skiing remains. I still look forward to the moment when I can stand on top of the mountain again. And I will," said Vonn.
Vonn suffered a serious fall seven days ago in the downhill race at the Winter Olympics. She was immediately taken to a hospital in Treviso, where she underwent four surgeries.
"Thank you to everyone who sent flowers, letters and stuffed animals. It's been great, it really helps me a lot during the difficult days in the hospital. I finally feel more like myself, but I have a long, long road ahead of me," said Von.
