The performance of snowboarder Andrej Šibalić is historic for Montenegro, as he is our first Paralympian at the Winter Paralympic Games, said the President of the Paralympic Committee, Igor Tomić.
Šibalić will compete in the banked slalom discipline, in the LL2 category.
The snowboarder from Žabljak said that this was a special moment for him, stating that on the day he received the invitation to perform at the Games, he became a father.
- This is another big motivation for me. We prepared for the performance as much as possible in Žabljak and Kolašin, we also prepared abroad. We traveled to the Netherlands, Italy, Dubai and Austria. I am ready and motivated, I can't wait to enter the village where I will have plenty of days to prepare for the competition - said Šibalić.
He emphasized that he received new equipment, board and bindings and that he was ready to perform.
- I am delighted with the support, from my city, but from other cities throughout Montenegro. I hope to show the best of myself, everything I have been preparing for, not only this preparatory period, but my whole life. I will do my best to represent the colors of Montenegro in the best way.
According to the regulations, two runs will be run, and the best time will count for the final result.
- I will calculate the first one a little, to be concentrated, while in the second one I will give my best, to show the best I know - Šibalić is clear.
Speaking about the competition, he said that it was exceptional and that many quality competitors would perform in Cortina.
- These are all very prepared guys. They prepare throughout the year, unlike us who only have snow for a few months. They are great, but I am confident that I will be the best and show the most possible - emphasized Šibalić.
