The first tournament of the year, which officially opened the new golf season in Montenegro, was held yesterday at the Krimovica course, organized by the Knjaginja Milica Golf Club.
More than 30 players from Montenegro, Serbia, Great Britain, USA, Netherlands, Germany and Cuba participated in the Krimovica Open 2026 tournament.
In the women's gross category, the best result was achieved by Slobodanka Boba Šćekić, Radmila Anđus and Draginja Radonjić.
In the men's gross category, the best were Goran Radonjić, Joakim Švant and Nikola Šorović.
In the women's net competition, the award for the most successful young golfer went to Dženifer Garcija, and in the men's competition to Aleksandar Ćirić.
The award for the closest shot to the hole was won by Vasilije Miljanić, while a special award was presented to the youngest participant in the tournament, eight-year-old Ljubomir Anđus.
This is the first golf tournament in Montenegro, where all R&A and USGA golf rules were applied, with the presence of a licensed golf judge and a three-member competition committee.
In her welcoming address, club president Slobodanka Boba Šćekić emphasized that this tournament is not only significant as the start of a new season, but also as an introduction to the anniversary year in which the Knjaginja Milica Golf Club celebrates 10 years of existence and work.
"Ten years of dedication, vision, development and love for golf. We are proud that our club has become a gathering place for golfers, their families, young talents and golf friends over the years," said Šćekić.
She also reminded of another significant anniversary that the club will celebrate during the year – 120 years since the founding of the first golf club in Montenegro and the Balkans, which was organized in 1906 by the Montenegrin Crown Princess Milica, after whom the club proudly bears its name today.
The club president especially thanked the President of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, Dušan Simonović, for his long-standing support, as well as the President of the Golf Association of Montenegro, Đorđe Popović, for his cooperation and contribution to the development of golf.
The organizers thanked the numerous sponsors and friends of the club for their help and support, announcing that the club has a year ahead filled with tournaments, promotions, golf training and events dedicated to the anniversary, with a special focus on working with children and inclusion in the projects "Golf in Schools" and "Golf is Your Sport Too".
"Our mission remains the same - to bring golf closer to people and to build its future together," was the message from the opening of the tournament.
