The 20th anniversary of independence is being celebrated in all spheres, including sports. The Faculty of Sport and Physical Education of the University of Montenegro, in cooperation with the Balkan Center for Science and Innovation (BISI), is organizing a panel discussion entitled "Montenegrin Sport during the First 20 Years".
The panel discussion will begin at noon, May 25, 2026, in the Rectorate building of the University of Montenegro (Blue Hall)..
The event will will bring together prominent Montenegrin athletes and sports workers, our famous athletes - Draško Brguljan, Igor Vušurović, Marija Mara Jovanović, Miloš Ranitović and Vlado Šćepanović - will speak and participate in discussions.
They have made a significant contribution to the development of sports and the international affirmation of Montenegro through their results and engagement. Through discussions with the participants, key issues of the development of Montenegrin sports in the past two decades will be discussed, with a special focus on experiences from major international competitions, challenges on the path to top results, as well as the role of sports in promoting the country at the regional and global levels.
A special segment of the discussion will be dedicated to reviewing the current position of sports in Montenegro, as well as defining a vision for its further development in the context of contemporary challenges and opportunities.
The organizers emphasize that the goal of this event is to contribute to a better understanding of the role of sport in society, through the exchange of experiences and opinions, as well as to the creation of guidelines for its future development.
The panel discussion is part of a broader program marking the anniversary of the restoration of Montenegro's independence and is intended for students, pupils, athletes and the interested public.
