The Montenegrin Olympic Committee (MOC) has launched an institutional Athlete Recovery and Regeneration Program as part of preparations for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

MOC did this with the help of SIRO Boka Plaza, the silver partner and official hotel of the Montenegrin Olympic Team.

"This is the first time that Montenegrin athletes on the Olympic path have access to a systematic recovery program in a unique wellness and sports destination in the region," the MOC said in a statement.

Adding:

"The program is intended for MOC scholarship holders in individual sports, as well as male and female athletes in team sports who are potential participants in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. During their five-day stay at SIRO Boka Place, athletes are provided with a comprehensive support package that includes accommodation in restorative rooms designed for optimal sleep and recovery, access to fitness facilities, a swimming pool, cryotherapy, sports massages, red light therapy, and nutritional support based on organic, locally sourced foods tailored to the individual needs of each athlete."

Last week, taekwondo players Andrea Berišaj and Anđela Berišaj, taekwondo players Zinedin Bećović, Vasilije Nestorović and Vasilije Peruničić, along with coach Vlado Stanišić, visited SIRO Boka Place.

Although the Program was designed as part of the preparations for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, MOC also provided support through SIRO Boka Place to a member of the Montenegrin Olympic team from the recent Winter Olympics, skier Aleksandar Grbović, and coach Matic Gracer, in order to contribute to his recovery and a new cycle of preparations.

"When we talk about preparing for the Olympic Games, we most often think of training, sparring, competitions and everything that is seen on the field, in the pool, on the track or in the gym. However, the top result is not only achieved in the hours of greatest effort, but also in what comes after it. Recovery, sleep, proper nutrition and regeneration are not a secondary part of the preparations, but their equally important segment. Our obligation is to create conditions in which an athlete can train well, but also recover well, maintain health, withstand the pressure of major competitions and be ready to give their maximum at the crucial moment," said MOC President Dušan Simonović.

Aleksander Sava, fitness director at SIRO Boka Place, highlighted what SIRO means for athletes preparing for major competitions.

"SIRO is not just about fitness. Our philosophy is based on five pillars: fitness, sleep, nutrition, mindfulness and recovery. When competition day comes, it all comes down to mental preparedness, and it is built throughout the entire preparation process. When you integrate these five pillars, you have the right focus on competition day, when it matters most," said Sava.
