Danish cyclist Jonas Vingegor is the winner of the seventh stage of the Giro d'Italia, after he crossed the finish line first today at the mountain finish line of Blokhaus in the final stage of a solo attack.
Vingegaard broke away in the final kilometers and celebrated with a 13-second lead over Felix Gall, while Jai Hindley was third, more than a minute behind.
The 245-kilometer stage, the longest in this year's Giro, was ridden in difficult conditions with rain and wind, and started in the coastal town of Formia, from where the caravan climbed into the Apennines.
Portuguese Afonso Eulalio, who had been wearing the pink jersey until this stage, lost contact with the leaders about six kilometers before the finish line and finished almost three minutes behind Vingegoro, thus losing part of his overall lead in the general classification.
This year's Giro d'Italia 2026 ends on May 31st in Rome.
