Vingegor wins ninth stage of Giro, 50th career triumph

Danish cyclist Jonas Vingegor is the winner of today's ninth stage of the Giro d'Italia, and the pink jersey intended for the leader in the general classification remains in the possession of Portuguese Afonso Eulalio.

Vingegor recorded his 50th career victory on the second mountain stage, which was 184 kilometers long from Cervi to the ascent of Korno alle Skala.

The Visma rider celebrated in a time of four hours, 20 minutes and 21 seconds, second place was taken by Austrian Felix Gall, 12 seconds behind Vingegoro, while third place went to domestic competitor Davide Pigancoli, 34 seconds behind the winner.

In the overall standings, Eulalijo leads with a total time of 38 hours, 49 minutes and 44 seconds, Vingegor is second with two minutes and 24 seconds behind, and Gal is third with two minutes and 59 seconds behind.

The next stage will be held on Tuesday, when the program includes a time trial from Viareggio to Massa, 42 kilometers long.
