Mexican driver Sergio Perez was penalized after the Monaco Grand Prix, depriving the Cadillac team of its first point in the Formula 1 championship.
Due to the penalty, Perez dropped from 10th place to a final 15th in the official standings, after the stewards further processed multiple incidents during the race.
He initially finished the race in 11th place on the track, but then improved to 10th after Audi driver Nico Hulkenberg was penalised for contact with Carlos Sainz.
However, in an additional decision by the stewards, Perez was sanctioned for an earlier offence during the race, including a situation in which his car was outside the permitted starting position. According to the FIA report, "the front right wheel of car number 11 was outside the starting box", which constitutes a violation of the starting procedure rules.
After the final decision, 10th place and the last point went to driver Fernando Alonso, while Cadillac was left without its historic first point in Formula 1.
