Simone Biles reveals she survived a serious health problem

American gymnast Simone Biles, the most decorated gymnast in history, has revealed that she recently experienced a serious health problem that she described as one of the most terrifying experiences of her life, British media reported today.

The seven-time Olympic champion posted photos from the hospital on social media, including a patient's bracelet and a shot of a heart rate monitor, with the message that she "almost died" earlier this week.

"I don't usually share things like this because I value privacy these days. But the fact that I almost died wasn't on my bucket list for this Sunday. This was one of, if not the, most terrifying experiences of my life," Biles wrote, as reported by the BBC.

The 29-year-old American did not reveal exactly what happened, stating that she would announce the details "sooner or later." In the meantime, she clarified on the X network that it was a health problem.

Biles added that she is currently resting at home and thanked her family and friends who have visited her, provided support and sent flowers during her recovery.

One of the greatest athletes of all time, she won three gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics, in the team event, all-around and vault, as well as silver on floor. In total, she won 41 Olympic and world medals during her career.

Biles is also known as a pioneer in gymnastics, as several extremely demanding elements were named after her and are known in the sport today as "Biles".

She made her Olympic debut at the age of 19, and later competed in two more Olympic cycles. She previously stated that she had not yet decided whether she would compete in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
