Stefan Pupović dominated at the Montenegrin national swimming championship

Organized by the Water Polo and Swimming Federation of Montenegro, the Montenegrin Summer National Swimming Championship, the most prestigious national competition in the domestic swimming calendar, was held last weekend in Nikšić.

The championship was attended by 179 male and female swimmers from eight Montenegrin clubs: Butterfly, PVK Nikšić, Primorac, Jadran M:tel, Budućnost One, Aquatic Verde, Budvanska rivijera and Orka.

The colors of the Orka Swimming Club from Budva were defended by Stefan Pupović, Uroš Radović and Janko Laković, under the expert guidance of coach Zoran Vujičić. The most successful performance was recorded by Stefan Pupović, who once again confirmed his exceptional form and dominance in the breaststroke disciplines. In the absolute competition, he won three gold medals and the national champion titles in the 50, 100 and 200 meter breaststroke, which further strengthened his position as one of the leading Montenegrin swimmers in this discipline.

The performances of competitors of all age categories, from pioneers to seniors, once again confirmed the continuous progress of swimming in Montenegro, as well as the quality professional work of the clubs in the process of developing young athletes and creating future champions.

"Additional importance to this year's Championship was given by the presence of the Director of the Directorate for Sports at the Ministry of Sports and Youth, Mr. Zoran Jojić, which confirmed strong institutional support for the development of swimming as one of the basic Olympic sports, but also for the improvement of the overall sports system in Montenegro.

"In the coming period, PK Orka swimmers expect to compete in the international swimming competitions Trebišnjica Cup in Trebinje and Montenegro Open in Podgorica," PK Orka said in a statement.
