The Montenegrin men's senior rugby team will participate in the 7s tournament in Istok starting tomorrow (Saturday), as the "Rugby Europe Conference 2" is taking place in Kosovo.
Montenegro is in a group with the national teams of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Gibraltar and San Marino.
Rugby 7s is the Olympic version of rugby, where a match lasts 14 minutes and the game itself is fast-paced because there are seven players on the field. Teams can play up to three matches during a single day of the tournament.
The Montenegrin national team will play their first match on Saturday against Bosnia and Herzegovina at 10:20, with Gibraltar starting at 1:15 p.m., and the match against San Marino starting at 4:30 p.m. All matches will be broadcast live on the European Rugby Federation website, rugbyeurope.eu.
Depending on the success in the group, play-offs will be played on the second day for placement.
The second group of this division includes the national teams of Greece, Estonia, Slovakia and Kosovo. The first two places in the tournament advance to the higher tier of the competition - Conference 1.
"The Montenegrin men's national team faces a new European challenge. After last year's fifth place finish, our national team members have the opportunity to take a new step forward and show how much Montenegrin rugby is progressing year after year," the Montenegrin Rugby Federation said, adding:
"Seven players, maximum intensity, and no room for error. We have games ahead that require heart, character and togetherness, values that this team proudly carries on every pitch," the Federation concluded in a statement.
