The International Olympic Committee's Athletes' Commission will begin consultations with Olympians to determine how the IOC can improve cooperation with this key community.
The initiative is, in fact, one of the goals of the "Ready for the Future" program and the desire to "make Olympians feel valued, respected and permanently connected to the global Olympic community."
Also, the IOC Executive Board decided to gradually end cooperation with the World Olympians Association (WOA).
As stated, until the end of the agreement for the year, the IOC will, in accordance with its contractual obligations, continue to provide financial and operational support to that organization to enable it to adapt to new circumstances.
The IOC states that the activities and management of the WOA have been burdened with serious problems for years, which has made cooperation between the organizations difficult.
It was concluded that the existing model was no longer in the best interests of the Olympians and that a more direct way of cooperation was necessary...
