Marek Pokvap dominated in singles in Žabljak, Mitar and Marojević triumph in exciting doubles final

Žabljak hosted an international teqball tournament for the first time, hosting the third competition of this year's Adriatic Teqball League (ATL). In the unique setting under Durmitor, some of the best players from the region and Europe staged attractive and exciting matches in front of a large audience.

In the men's singles, Marek Pokvav, currently ranked number one in the world, continued his winning streak. In the final, after a major turnaround and dramatic finish, he defeated his compatriot Stefan Orlovski 2:1 (6:12, 12:5, 13:11).

"I am very happy about another title won. The competition was extremely strong and every match required maximum focus. Žabljak is a beautiful place to play, the audience was great, and the organization was at a high level. It is always a pleasure to play in the Adriatic Teqball League tournaments," said Pokvap.

In the men's doubles competition, Teq Liman won another title. The current world champions Nikola Mitro and Bogdan Marojević remained undefeated in Žabljak, defeating the Polish pair Marek Pokvap/Stefan Orlovski in the final with a score of 2:1 (12:7, 9:12, 12:8).

"We are very pleased that we have continued our winning streak. Every tournament brings new challenges, but we have once again shown quality and character when it was most needed. We are especially pleased that we played in front of a great audience, in a great atmosphere. I hope that the tournament in Žabljak will become a tradition, because it deserves a place in the calendar of major tekbol events," said Mitro.

The audience especially loved 17-year-old Stefan Orlovski, who played great matches in both competitions. The young Pole reached the finals in both the men's singles and men's doubles, putting up strong resistance against the favorites and playing several extremely exciting matches. After the last point, he did not hide his emotions, and the audience greeted him with great applause and recognized him as one of the players who marked the first international tekbol competition in Žabljak.

Montenegrin players also competed at the tournament, with the most successful being members of Budućnost, Marko Žarković and Andrija Jovanović. Their performance in the men's doubles ended in the semifinals, where they were stopped by Pokvap and Orlovski.

After a successful edition in Žabljak, the Adriatic Teqball League continues its season in Sarajevo, which will host the next stop of this year's ATL competition on August 15th.

The group stage of the tournament was played yesterday at the Ravni Žabljak stadium, while the final was held at the Durmitor Warriors' Square. The tournament was officially opened by the Mayor of Žabljak, Radoš Žugić.

"I am particularly pleased that Žabljak is increasingly recognized as a destination for organizing international sports events. We are proud to have hosted the Adriatic Teqball League for the first time and that our city has been visited by the best players in the world, including the current world champions. Teqball has been present in Žabljak for the fourth year in a row and has become an indispensable part of our sports and tourism offer," said Žugić.
