Montenegrin Paralympians Filip Radović and Luka Bakić have officially qualified for the World Para Table Tennis Championships, which will be held in Thailand from November 13 to 19, the Paralympic Committee announced.
At the end of the extremely demanding qualification cycle, which concluded on July 31st, Radović secured his place as second in the senior rankings.
In 2026, he can boast trophies from tournaments in Vladislavovo, Linjan, Podgorica and Beijing.
Bakić earned his place in the World Championship as the fifth player on the World Para Table Tennis Federation list.
He announced his entry into the championship by winning the tournament in Ostrava, and was a finalist in Laško and Podgorica.
In Thailand, only 13 table tennis players will compete in the S10 category - the winners of the continental championships and the six best placed players from the World Rankings.
Among the participants will be the best player in the world under 23 and one by special invitation.
The success gains in significance when considering that only Montenegro, along with Chinese Taipei, has two representatives at the championship, in the S10 category.
This will be Radović's third appearance at the World Championships, after he was stopped one step away from a medal in the quarterfinals in 2018 in Celje and four years later in Granada.
He won medals at the European Championships - bronze in Vejle, Denmark in 2015 and Laško in 2017, and silver in Helsingborg, Sweden in 2019 and Sheffield in 2023.
He is also the holder of two Paralympic medals, in Tokyo 2021 and Paris three years later.
Bakić will be playing in the World Cup for the second time, after Granada and the quarterfinals.
Last year, he was the European vice-champion, and he is the team bronze medalist at the 2019 European Championships in Helsingborg, which he won in a team with Filip Radović and Dejan Bašanović.
