But what happens when the hall lights go out?
New show "Offstage" brings exactly that story - the life of athletes off the field, in the moments when they are who they truly are, in the everyday life that relaxes them and makes them happy.
Our first guest was Andrija Slavkovic – a basketball player for Buducnost VOLI and a member of the Montenegrin national team, but also, as he likes to say, a “professional espresso drinker in the Podgorica sun”.
Over espresso, we talked about true camaraderie that is built through healthy relationships in the club, but also about how sometimes it takes very little time for some acquaintances to grow into lifelong friendships.
We also touched on an interesting topic - how "Americans" became Montenegrins, but also much more that you haven't had the opportunity to hear before.
In the meantime, we tried our hand at shooting from the free throw line, and on the way to one of the Podgorica courts, we remembered an incredible game from his younger days – when, at only 16 years old, he scored 70 points in the jersey of the Bijelo Polje-based Centar, against the cadets of Budućnost.
A match that, he says, is still often retold today.
A big fan of video games and tennis, Slavković challenged us to a small duel on the concrete – the final result, the most realistic possible, was 1:1 in sets.
He also hosted us at his home, where we were greeted by a somewhat unexpected situation – the fridge wasn't particularly stocked, but he offered us some homemade brandy.
The only problem? There were no glasses, so we had to improvise. However, we "righted the wrong" and gave him a set of glasses for future guests.
Always ready for a joke, in a good mood and in even better company – Andrija Slavković showed what the life of an athlete looks like off the field.
The rest of the story awaits you in the video.
