A great success for the young football players of Podgorica's Golden Ball - the 2015 generation of players won one of the most prestigious international children's football tournaments in the region - the Dragan Mance Cup, which was held at the Partizan-Teleoptika fields, better known as Zemunelo, in Belgrade.
At this unique sports festival, which brings together football talents from across Europe, the boys from Podgorica became the first Montenegrin team to win this tournament, leaving behind 47 teams.
The kind of company they found themselves in is evident from the fact that the tournament was won by Partizan in the 2014 generation, and by Benfica from Lisbon in the 2016 generation.
The Golden Ball started the tournament with a defeat in the group, but then went on to win eight games, defeating, among others, TSC, Maribor, Rapid Bucharest... while Petar Pavličić was named the best player of the tournament.
"The Dragan Mance Cup tournament, organized under the auspices of the City Municipality of Zemun, the Sports Federation of Serbia, the Football Federation of Belgrade, the Football Federation of Serbia and the state of Serbia, has been included in the cultural and sports offer of national importance, which speaks volumes about its reputation and importance in the sports calendar of the region," reads the announcement by FK Zlatna lopta, highlighting:
"This triumph is the crowning achievement of the dedicated work of the children, coaches, parents and club management, but also a great boost for the future of Montenegrin children's football. With this result, FC Zlatna lopta has once again shown that in Montenegro, with quality work, the brightest football potential can be developed."
