With great matches, marked by great suspense, top moves and incredible emotions, the ninth season of the Bemax Primary School Basketball League ended today. The competition, which brings together 19 schools, or 38 teams and around 600 boys and girls, and which began in November, has finally won its winners after six and a half months and 184 matches – the “Pavle Rovinski” Primary School is the champion in the women's competition, while the “Vuk Karadžić” Primary School team is the champion in the boys' competition.
In the final match of the boys' primary school, "Vuk Karadžić" defeated "Milorad Musa Burzan" 33:21. The team of professor Branislav Bulatović had a 13:3 advantage, but "Milorad Musa Burzan" turned the game around (15:14) and brought the match to a dramatic conclusion. However, with an 8:0 series, "Vuk Karadžić" ultimately achieved a convincing victory and a well-deserved title.
Dušan Vukanović from the winning team was named the best player, and the cups for first and second place, as well as the MVP award, were presented by Danilo Ivanović, captain of Podgorica Bemax and a member of the Montenegrin national team.
-This is an exceptional competition. The result was not our primary concern, but I am proud, because the girls played in the final, the boys won the title and it is certainly a special impression for them and a nice reward for the school. Thanks to this project, we have a much greater interest in children in playing this sport, so our basketball section is now extremely large. Thank you to the organizer for everything – said Professor Branislav Bulatović.
In the game for 3rd place in the boys' competition, "Sutjeska" dominated against "Dragiša Ivanović" – 57:31. The cups for 3rd and 4th place were presented by Luka Dakić, a former basketball player and now a long-time delegate.
The girls' finals didn't bring any drama, but they did bring some nice moves. “Pavle Rovinski” defeated the team “Vuk Karadžić” 41:10.
-We have achieved great success, because this is a league that lasts practically the entire school year. The girls have progressed, shown increasing interest, and the title is just the crowning glory. I have been a part of the Bemax League since the first season and this is certainly an exceptional competition, which gives great importance to school sports and helps promote basketball and healthy lifestyles – emphasized Dubravka Nina Kovačević, a teacher at the “Pavle Rovinski” school.
From the winning team, Anika Rajović was named the league's best player.
The match for 3rd place in the girls' tournament saw much greater uncertainty – “Novka Ubović” defeated “Sutjeska” 35:30 in a match full of twists and turns.
The awards in the women's competition were presented by Petar Stojanović, coach of the Budućnost Bemax women's basketball team and the coach of our young women's national team.
Before the start of the final match, the director of Budućnost Bemax, Zoran Vujičić, presented a special award to referee Vladimir Mugoša, who refereed all nine finals of the Bemax Primary School League.
