Meridianbet The Montenegrin Student Basketball League has a new champion - the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education from Nikšić defeated the Faculty of Science and Mathematics in the final, thus dethroning the two-time consecutive winner of this competition.
The defending champion opened the finals excellently and showed in the first minutes why it had been the best team in the league in previous years. The Faculty of Science quickly gained a significant advantage, leading 13:4, and in the middle of the second quarter reached the maximum plus 10 (24:14). At those moments, it seemed that the current champion was in control of the game, but the “difovci” did not give up.
The team from Nikšić then played much more aggressively in defense, managed to stop the opponent's attack and began to close the gap with patient play. With a partial 10:1, the "Difovci" completely "caught the connection" and came within just a point of the deficit (24:25), and then they reached the tie for the first time (27:27). The Nikšić team's surge did not stop there, as they crowned the 7:0 series with a complete turnaround and a 31:27 lead. From that moment on, the fight was evenly matched, and the winner was only decided in the final minutes. With a minute and a half left, the team from Nikšić managed to gain a big plus seven (72:65). PMF responded through Filip Popović, who scored with an additional free throw and reduced the lead to 68:72, so the finish of the match gained additional drama. After the timeout, the PMF team had one last chance to fully return to the match with exactly one minute left, but Ivan Radović's three-point shot did not find its way to the basket. The game then went into a penalty shootout, in which the "Difovci" kept their composure.
Petar Višnjić from the winning team was named the Most Valuable Player of the Finals (MVP), and was presented with the award by Student Parliament President Jakov Vukčević.
The championship cup and gold medals were awarded to the basketball players of the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education by Zoran Jojić, Director of the Directorate for Sport at the Ministry of Sport, while the silver medals were presented to the Faculty of Science by Petar-Peko Mijović, coach of the SC Derbija basketball team and coach of the Montenegrin junior national team.

NEW MEDAL FOR UDG - BRONZE
The basketball players of the University of Donja Gorica won third place, after defeating the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in the bronze medal match.
After a tied first half, which ended in a draw, the question of the winner was decided in the second half. UDG played much more organized and solid in defense in the second half, gradually taking control of the match and with a series of good attacks reaching a secure advantage.
Thus, after last year's silver medal, when it was defeated by PMF in the final, the team from the University of Donja Gorica reached the bronze medal this season.
On the other hand, ETF continued its decline in results, having won silver two years ago and bronze last year, while this time it was left without a medal.
The cup and bronze medals were presented to the third-place basketball players of the University of Donja Gorica by the President of the Student Sports Association, Zoran Medenica, while the Secretary of the Secretariat for Sports of the Capital City, Darko Nikčević, presented the Faculty of Electrical Engineering with the Fair Play Cup.
