Students of the "Oktoih" Elementary School from Podgorica and students of the "Nedakusi" Elementary School from Bijelo Polje are the new champions of Montenegro in mini handball, after an exciting final at the "Meksoki" Elementary School in Bar.
The National Championship within the 43rd School Sports Games was successfully organized by the Montenegrin School Sports Federation. The final tournament brought together the three best male and female teams, who qualified through qualifications in three Montenegrin regions.
The matches were played according to the league system - each team against each other, and the audience in Bar enjoyed the uncertain duels and extraordinary talent of the youngest handball players, who were led from the benches by their teachers.
In the girls' competition, the students of the Podgorica Elementary School "Oktoih", led by Professor Lidija Marićević, showed absolute dominance. In the first round, they defeated the hosts, the "Mexico" team (20:9), while in the crucial match for gold, they outclassed their peers from the "Marko Miljanov" Elementary School from Bijelo Polje (18:4).
The runner-up title went to the girls from Bjelopolje, coached by Professor Irfan Mekić, who beat Baranje by one goal in a dramatic match (20:19). The home team from the Elementary School "Meksko" was led to the bronze medal by Professor Samedin Husović.
Results – girls - first round: "Oktoih" – "Mexico" 20:9; second round: "Mexico" – "Marko Miljanov" 19:20; third round: "Oktoih" – "Marko Miljanov" 18:4.
Place: 1. "Oktoih", 2. "Marko Miljanov", 3. "Mexico".

From the first minute on the field, they breathed as one, showed exceptional tactical discipline and deservedly brought home the title of state champion in Zabjelo. Congratulations to the Montenegrin School Sports Federation for the impeccable organization, as well as to all fellow teachers and teams for the fair and sporting fight, said Lidija Marićević, teacher of the champion team of the Elementary School "Oktoih".
The boys' tournament brought incredible excitement and matches that were decided in the finals. The team from the "Nedakusi" Elementary School from Bijelo Polje, led by professor Adnan Hasić, showed their best play and nerves of steel, achieving two narrow victories.
The team from Bijelo Polje first defeated the Tivat team "Drago Milović", led by Professor Vuk Kaluđerović (23:22), and then the Podgorica Elementary School "Štampar Makarije" (24:22), led by Professor Mirko Krunić, in a thriller final, which secured them the winning trophy. The silver went to the team from Tivat, and the bronze went to the handball players from the "Štampar Makarije" Elementary School.
Results – boys - first round: "Štampar Makarije" – "Drago Milović" 18:24; second round: "Drago Milović" – "Nedakusi" 22:23; third round: "Štampar Makarije" – "Nedakusi" 22:24.
Ranking: 1st "Nedakusi", 2nd "Drago Milović", 3rd "Printer Makarije".
- This is a historic success for our school and the result of months of dedicated work in training. The boys showed incredible character, as they won both matches by “one goal” against extremely strong and brilliantly led opponents from Tivat and Podgorica. This gold medal is proof that great handball talents are born in the north of Montenegro.
